Analysis of matched cohort data

چکیده
Matching is occasionally used in cohort studies; examples include studies of twins and some studies of traffic crashes. Analysis of matched cohort data is not discussed in many textbooks or articles and is not mentioned in the Stata manuals. Risk ratios can be estimated using matched-pair cohort data with Stata’s mcc command. We describe a new command, csmatch, which can produce these risk ratios and is often more convenient. We briefly review flexible regression methods that can estimate risk ratios in matched cohort data: conditional Poisson regression and some versions of Cox regression.

Matched cohort methods for injury research.
This article reviews the design and analysis of matched cohort studies of injuries where exposed study subjects are matched to others not exposed. We focus on the situation in which data are available for the matched groups with at least one member who had the study outcome, but data are absent or incomplete for matched groups that have no members with the outcome. When matching is done in a ca...

Background and objective: The nested case-control study has become popular as an efficient alternative to the full-cohort design. This study compares the results of a nested case-control analysis approach with the full cohort analysis. Methods: A cohort of 276 subjects (new cases from a TB registry) was used for this study. Cox Regression model was used for the full cohort analysis. In orde...

متن کاملIgnoring the matching variables in cohort studies - when is it valid and why?
In observational studies of the effect of an exposure on an outcome, the exposure-outcome association is usually confounded by other causes of the outcome (potential confounders). One common method to increase efficiency is to match the study on potential confounders. Matched case-control studies are relatively common and well covered by the literature. Matched cohort studies are less common bu...
